Emma Evergren

Lecturer,

PhD, Karolinska Institute 2006

Dr. Evergren received her PhD from Karolinska Institute, Sweden, under the mentorship of Prof. Oleg Shupliakov and Lennart Brodin, studying the molecular mechanisms of clathrin-mediated endocytosis in an ex vivo model system using electron microscopy techniques. Subsequently, she joined the lab of Dr. Harvey McMahon at MRC-LMB in Cambridge for postdoctoral training. Since then, her research focusses on understanding the role of membrane-binding proteins in cell biology. In particular BAR domain proteins and their role in endocytosis and cell signalling. She joined the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research in 2014.

James joined the lab as a PhD student in 2019 to investigate regulatory mechanisms of death receptor trafficking in cell survival in collaboration with Prof. Dan Longley. He successfully defended his viva in June 2023!

Previous Lab Members

Research Fellow: Dr. Neville Cobbe (2016-2017)

Neville joined the lab to work on a novel clathrin- and Eps15R-mediated mechanism for cell repulsion driven by ephrin and EphB receptor interactions. Published in Traffic.

Research Fellow: Dr. Ravi Deevi (2018-2019)

Ravi joined the lab in January 2018 and was studying molecular mechanisms regulating cell polarity through the endocytic protein intersectin-2.

PhD students:

Aidan Seeley

Aidan joined the lab in October 2015 and is funded by a Department of Education and Learning fellowship. He was studying the role of the ubiquitin E3 ligase itch in receptor endocytosis and cell signalling.

Lorna Stewart

Lorna joined the lab of Prof. Ian Mills in 2015 and worked on the role of CaMKK2 in membrane trafficking and cell proliferation. Dr Evergren was her second supervisor. Her work was published in 2021 in Cell Death & Disease.
